Volunteer

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering provides an opportunity to connect with and uplift those in need, and contribute to the well-being of our community as a whole.

You have the power to make a direct impact on the lives of those facing food insecurity. Your time and dedication can bring hope, nourishment, and comfort to individuals in the Lompoc community who are struggling to put food on their tables.

Whether you can spare a few hours each week or can commit to a regular schedule, your assistance is invaluable. From sorting and organizing donated food, to assisting with distribution and other essential tasks, there are various ways you can lend a helping hand. No experience is necessary – all you need is a compassionate heart and a willingness to make a difference.

Alone we can do so little;

together we can do so much.

Volunteer Driver Needed

The Lompoc Food Pantry is in urgent need of a volunteer driver to help pick up food donations from local grocery stores. Our pantry relies on these daily donations to keep food on the shelves for families in need, and we’re currently short on long-term volunteers who can help us continue this vital work.

While our long-term goal is to raise funds for a year-round pantry staff member and driver through an annual or semi-annual fundraising campaign, we need your help now. If you or someone you know can volunteer your time, please spread the word!

Driver Requirements

  • Able to walk without difficulty and lift 10–40 pounds

  • Willing to maintain set morning pick-up times with local grocers (aligned with store schedules)

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and pass a background check

  • Friendly, reliable, and comfortable interacting with grocery store employees and management

  • Willing to assist with loading/unloading donations and weighing items for pantry records

Volunteer Schedule

Morning shifts begin at 7:45 a.m., with the first pick-up at Albertsons at 8:00 a.m. Routes include multiple local grocers depending on the day, with final drop-off at the pantry around 10:00 a.m.
A second volunteer often assists with loading donations, though this support may vary.

We are looking for someone who can commit to at least four mornings per week. If you’re interested in joining our team and making a difference in our community, please contact us to learn more or apply.
